Barat Education Foundation proudly presents fun, effective, and impactful professional development for educators who want to enrich learning through primary source activities and projects that promote critical thinking. This summer we are focusing on Teaching for Understanding along the following path: Concept > Experience > Inquiry > Creation > Reflection
The Learning @ the Source series includes in-person workshops and online modules to reinforce learning as well as optional lesson-planning labs with expert technology assistance and resources. New this year is a one-day U.S. Constitution workshop. Join us to discover the wonders that await you and your students at the Library of Congress!

Learning @ the Source (K-8 teachers, $25 lunches included) June 10-12 OR June 17-19 OR June 24-26 OR July 8-10
Learning @ the Source (HIGH SCHOOL teachers only, $20 lunches included) July 15-16
U.S. Constitution (Middle AND High School teachers, $10 lunch included) July 17
Lesson-Planning Labs (available to all teachers who have completed a workshop) June 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18
 Time & Location
ALL Workshops held 9:30 am - 3 pm each day in the tech lab at Woodlands Academy (760 E. Westleigh Rd., Lake Forest)

  Explore the value of using primary sources to foster learning
  Practice new strategies for using primary sources to enhance critical-thinking skills
  Learn how to navigate the Library of Congress website
  Gain basic skills in capturing and using digitized primary sources
  Create standards-based lesson plans utilizing primary sources in engaging and effective ways
 U.S. Constitution
  Practice strategies to enhance student understanding of our our nation’s supreme law
  Access useful digitized primary sources from our nation’s library
  Discover a new educational game that can help students prepare for U.S. Constitution tests
  Work with curriculum experts and your peers to develop practical and engaging lesson plans
